Seed Envelopes and Pakets 2018

As Spring gets closer many of you are starting your seeds inside
and dreaming of the wonderful days outside in our flower and
vegetable gardens......and then there's us seed collectors.
What I really wanted to share with you this morning is I've discovered
another way to keep my seeds.  Scroll below my  little gardener seed packet
printable to see my seed storing tip.

The seed packets measure 2 1/2" by 2 1/2"

If you would like the larger seed packet ( 3 1/2" by 3 1/2" )

In the paper or plastic isle of the grocery store have you seen these little bags of plastic containers, called condiment cups or jello shot cups. ( .02 ounce with lids)
You can purchase them at Walmart.com ( click the image)
I have found so many uses for these handy little containers but this post is about seed saving. When I gathered my seeds in  Summer and this Fall I used them.
I did design these labels for the lids. I used glue dots to keep them on.
The uses for these little containers is literrally unlimited, kids lunches, storing beads, glitter, paint, buttons  etc....

๐ŸŒฟ How ๐ŸŒฟI Level My Planters๐ŸŒฟ

I've done this for years.......if you have planters in the yard or on the patio
you know the disappointment of crooked planters.

๐ŸŒฟ Buy a pak of shims from the hardware store ๐ŸŒฟ
You can buy the wood ones but I prefer the composit ones.
The wood rots and they are only good for one season.
The composit or plastic ones don't rot and you can use them next year

๐ŸŒฟ  Simply slide 1, 2, or as many as you need under the edge of your planter  ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ   Now, doesn't a nice straight planter look better ?  ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒฟ   I use them on my bird baths too  ๐ŸŒฟ

๐ŸŒผ Line Your Outdoor Planters ๐ŸŒผ

I know we're all excited about the Spring season....filling all the planters for Summer's enjoyment.
Here's a tip I've done for years. Cut a piece of landscape fabric and line the bottom of the pot before you add the potting soil. You'll thank me for this tip. This Kees the bugs out of the plants and keeps your potting sold from seeping out.
I like to use a heavier landscape fabric and I have used plastic screen.  When your at the hardware store buy a couple of yards and keep it on hand. Cut a circle, or square to cover the holes in your planter.

Using Large Planters

I wanted to add a note here....I've seen lately on pinterest to fill the bottom of the planter with packing peanuts....don't do it ! I was adding peanuts and broken packing Styrofoam to planters in the 80's........what a mess. Eventually you t to change the soil after a plant has died and  there are too many roots to re-plant. If we would have had a sheet of foam insulation we would have used it rather than the plywood. You can buy disks for planers  but they are horribly expensive. I've only seen them on the internet never in retail.
